About Sierra

I am extremely passionate about the work I do and am in constant amazement of the Sierra Dator looking up and blue backgroundobstacles people can overcome to feel truly good about who they are. I studied at Keuka College in New York State, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Social Work, and at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where I earned a Master’s of Science in Social Work. I am currently licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (LCS23317) and am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I am also a member of a local consultation group where I study with many esteemed professionals in the community.  I have received the Golden Heart Award and the Shining Star Award for above and beyond commitment and service to the community at Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

Over the past 19 years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including schools, special education, hospitals, residential treatment centers, private practice, and not-for-profits, giving me a wealth of experience with a variety of problems. I have supervised interns who have gained hours to become a Licensed Therapist.  Currently, I speak publicly to parents and teens about issues they are facing and to other therapists around clinical issues.

My acceptance for people and dedication to helping others comes through in my work.  Previous clients have commented on my ability to connect with “tough” kids and how to teach parents so they can use practical tools to help their child.  Others have noted my kind, caring, and unconditional appreciation for all those I work with.  I love what I do and believe in my ability to make a difference.
